90% of Lebanese territory, and is willing to reach its customers
wherever they are located.
GDS has also been the first to launch a Broadband Fixed Wireless Access
service in the Middle East in August 2001, using the LMDS
technology.
As a major player in the Lebanese Telecommunications market, GDS
commissioned in September 2001 the first local Internet exchange
in Lebanon. All Lebanese private and public ISP’s are now interconnected
through GDS backbone.
In September 2002, GDS launched a successful new product based on
wireless access IP technology allowing corporate customers to reach
their chosen ISP at a very competitive price.
In June 2003, GDS started a limited trial of a wireless broadband
home Internet access. Mass deployment of the service took place starting
2004.
Since September 2003, in partnership with the
major health sector players, GDS is offering a national health network
to insurance companies, hospitals, laboratories and pharmacies.
In January 2007, GDS was the first service provider to introduce
WiMAX technology in Lebanon.
In August 2007, GDS launched its DSL access
network in the context of a local loop unbundling with the Ministry of
Telecommunications.
Open to new technologies and to market evolution, and relying on
cumulated expertise, GDS meets the customer’ need with maximum
reactivity.
